Looking for guidance here as I must transfer funds from an account here to a non-EU bank. I see that Portugal has Western Union but has anyone used any other services they found satisfactory?

There are a few exchange groups listed on this page. If you're sending to a non-European bank, assuming the USA, Moneycorp has offices in the States.

Check with your bank and if you have online banking, you might see that you can do it from your computer. I know BES offers this service.

I also used moneycorp - great service, totally reliable, low charges and good exchange rates - and they will haggle a little for larger sums of money.
