Not sure if you're interested, but given the fact that you are studying Youth Justice, perhaps you would branch out a bit and volunteer at Amnesty International. Here's their link.

Also, Habitat for Humanity always needs volunteers. Their HQ is in Braga, but they work all over the country. Here's their link. This might be suitable for your handyman skills!

I thought it might be easier....finding volunteer work, can you give the Portuguese site that you found?

I have tried contacting the sites that Dona provided but no response back yet. There is another organisation in Lisboa called Serve the City that could be seeking volunteers.
